Taking a break to move

Well, it's getting close to the ANG seminar in Columbus.  I will arrive late this Thursday evening and will be there until the following Saturday afternoon.  So if you are also attending, have a great time, and I look forward to seeing many of you!

Upon my return from seminar, interspersed with the "normal" I must begin packing for our move.  Yes, it is finally near....we have been talking about it forever (it seems)!  We are scheduled to close escrow on Monday.  Don't want to say more until it is officially "done"!  But we are planning to move around December, so.......I won't be able to fill orders from November 1st until January 1s (possibly the 15th).  We have lived in our current house for 22 years, so we're certainly not looking forward to the moving part!

I am working on a new design, just picking threads, beads and markers now, and will begin stitching upon my return, so some photos will follow around the end of October.

Wishing everyone a great month!

Buttonhole Stitch

Thanks for visiting!  I know it has been awhile.....again.  I have been posting infrequently at best.  During the last three weeks I've finished the Olivia Ostrich instruction book (shown in my most recent post).  Now I am in the middle of the Funky Rose instructions which will be a pilot class in March.  One of the features of this design is a large buttonhole stitch rose stitched with River Silks 7mm ribbon.

In the process of writing the instructions I have been creating stitch diagrams and graphs and have been reviewing all that I have previously created using buttonhole stitches.  And there it was.......my very first "In Stitches" column in the May 2007 issue of Needle Pointers magazine. The sample I stitched for it has lots of examples of various used for buttonhole so I thought it might be fun to show them again here.   And here are the basic stitch diagrams for reference.  I hope you get some ideas you're able to use in your projects.  Buttonhole stitches add lots of texture as you can see.

Have a great week!

San Francisco Bay Area Needlework Shops

Over the last 1-1/2 years since I begin this blog I have had several requests for current information on San Francisco, and the greater Bay Area, needlework shops.  And whenever I travel to teach workshops, at least one student wants to know the latest on San Francisco shops, as she is planning a trip to the area.  So, I finally decided it is time I compiled one, and was surprised they totalled 12 shops!  We are so lucky!

A new shop, Luv2stitch, just opened on May 12th.  It is owned by Dale Lenci of D J Designs and many of you are probably familiar with his designs.  It is located in San Mateo which is about 25 miles south of San Francisco, but not that far south of the San Francisco Airport.  I am looking forward to making my first visit there in the near future.

To find the list, click here.  All of the shops have a website (with links), and some have online catalogs.  I hope this listing will prove useful to you.  I will try to keep it updated, but please let me know if you have problems with any of the links, etc.  Enjoy!

Wishing everyone an enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend!
